Yongsun Jin is currently a graduate student of the Korea University with the Department of North Korean Studies. She received B.A. in Geographic Education and History Education from Korea University. Now, she is also a participant of the the Asan Academy Fellow program supported by the Asan Policy Institute.
In Korea, her prior work experience includes being an unification education instructor for the Institute for Unification Education teaching students from elementary to high school. She worked as an intern journalist with DailyNK dealing with North Korea related issues in particular. Furthermore, she worked at the Institute for Peace Affairs as a social media manager dealing with their blog and Twitter. Also, she worked at the Center for North Korea and Unification and the Institute for Public Policy at Korea University as an administrative and research assistant. Between studies, she worked as an aide intern at the Korean National Assembly.
She had studied to be a teacher of Geography and History, but when she was junior in her undergraduate studies, her grandfather, who was a member of a divided family during the Korean War, passed away. After that, she become interested in North Korea and unification issues, and finally changed her major to North Korean Studies. She wants to be a person who can contribute to Korean Unification and her strong interests led her to HRNK.
