William Lee

Research Intern

William is a student at Vanderbilt University, intending on majoring in Economics and minoring in Legal Studies. He is heavily interested in foreign affairs, East Asian societies and cultures, and human rights law.

Growing up, William often heard stories about life in North Korea from his grandmother, who escaped during the war. This sparked his early interest in the region and its complex human rights issues. His passion grew stronger through working for a State Representative and a then-Congresswoman, both of whom were heavily engaged in East Asian foreign relations and human rights. These experiences affirmed his commitment to pursuing a career in law and international advocacy.

At HRNK, William hopes to deepen his understanding of the human rights challenges facing North Korea, while combining his academic interests with hands-on experience to advance justice and accountability.
