Uliana Dukach is a student at Yonsei University in Korea, double-majoring in Political Science and Korean Language and Literature. While living and studying in Korea, she developed a deep love of the Korean language and culture and hopes to pursue work that remains closely connected to Korea throughout her career.
Previously, Uliana worked at See Forward Ukraine, supporting Ukrainian refugees through direct cash programs for internally displaced people, and volunteered at a leadership camp for young Ukrainian women. This experience fueled her interest in advocacy and community support for vulnerable populations.
Uliana’s interest in North Korea developed during a class at Yonsei University on denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, which examined the multi-layered historical and political realities often oversimplified and misrepresented in mainstream media.
Through her internship at HRNK, Uliana hopes to deepen her understanding of North Korean history and current conditions. Most importantly, she is motivated to help amplify the voices of North Korean people by supporting efforts to share their stories and raise awareness about ongoing human rights violations.
