Theresa Nguyen is an rising senior at Middlebury College specializing in International Politics and Economics with a focus on Russian language. In addition to Russian, Theresa also has bilingual certification in English and Vietnamese. Being multilingual, she has been involved in many efforts regarding community coalition building. She cofounded the current Vietnamese Student Association at Middlebury College, and worked with the nonprofit Baikal Interactive Ecological Center as a student and volunteer during her time abroad in Siberia.
Although she is specializing in international relations, she also has experience with environmental justice and sustainability. She has been involved with the Chicago Botanic Garden since summer 2014. Apart from scientific research, she has also investigated how public policy correlates with the provision and quality of rights in low-income neighborhoods in Chicago. She aspires to work closely with human rights in the future, and hopes to gain further knowledge and understanding of global issues through working at HRNK.
Other interesting facts: she plays chess, is a registered black belt instructor in Chicago, and likes to paint for fun.
