Sreshtha Thangaswamy is currently an undergraduate at Syracuse University studying Political Science and Economics with an interest in East Asian Geopolitics and Strategic Diplomacy. She is interested in advocacy for unheard voices and human rights concerns on the international level.
Having studied at Yonsei University, Sreshtha has deepened her curiosity in human rights concerns in North Korea while strengthening her knowledge of Korean Unification policy and its history. Through immersions in countries including South Korea, Italy and Bosnia & Herzegovina, she has built a passion for enabling peacebuilding strategies, targeting systemic inefficiencies and developing sustainable economies. Her interest in North Korea is driven by current China-North Korean economic and political relations, including North Korea’s domestic economic hierarchy.
Through her internship at HRNK, Sreshtha hopes to continue human rights advocacy and research while gaining a deeper understanding of the economic and human condition in North Korea. She contributes to the HRNK initiative by conducting research, writing for the Daily Press, and engaging with professionals through events and other opportunities.
