Research Intern
  • Winter 2015 - Autumn 2015

Spencer Phillips graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from Duquesne University and specialized in communism and totalitarianism. Spencer is the son of a Cuban refugee and the grandson of a Cuban political prisoner. It was this personal heritage that led him to the study of communism and human rights abuses under communism throughout the world. Spencer has dedicated himself to the preservation of the memory of victims of communism, the atrocities of communism, and the aid of those still suffering under it. To this end he has raised awareness by writing prose, a novel, music videos for various metal bands, and most recently his involvement with The Committee for Human Rights in North Korea.
