Skylar Grampp is a rising senior at Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, California. His interest in global affairs is sparked by his involvement with the renowned Mira Costa Model United Nations program. As a part of Model UN, Skylar has represented different points of view in committees such as 4th SPD and UNHCR. Skylar was chair of the UNOOSA committee for the Los Angeles Invitational Model United Nations conference in 2021, and will again chair the 2022 SOCHUM committee.
Skylar also has a deep commitment to his local community, serving as Commissioner, Parks and Recreation Committee for the City of Manhattan Beach. In this role, he was the student voice in community affairs, including the debate surrounding the management of events at Bruce's Beach.
Skylar was selected as a Southern California regional delegate to California Boys State. While at the conference in Sacramento he competed in a legal advocacy competition, served on the Whig campaign committee, and was elected State Senator. As senator, he debated, wrote, and passed bills. He also served on the Resolution committee which was responsible for lobbyists and cooperation between the Assembly and Senate.
Skylar is a competitive swimmer for Beach Cities Swim club and a Varsity swimmer for Mira Costa High School. He loves to surf and enjoy the beach.
