Natalia Slavney majored in Anthropology, Asian Studies, and International Studies at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, graduating in 2014. Natalia has always been interested in East Asia, particularly Japanese and Korean culture. She first became interested in North Korean human rights while studying abroad at Yonsei University. She took a course about refugees from around the world and the policies of different countries and organizations working to help them. She has applied to International Affairs MA programs in Washington, DC and South Korea, and is hoping to focus on human rights and continue her study of the Korean language. Through her internship at HRNK, Natalia would like to learn more about human rights violations in North Korea, and the nations and organizations that are working together to solve these issues.
