Research Intern

Michelle Kim is currently an undergraduate student studying Government & Politics and Economics at the University of Maryland, College Park.

As a Korean American, she is deeply drawn to HRNK’s mission to expose and address human rights violations in North Korea, a cause that holds both personal and moral significance for her. Her academic work has shaped a strong interest in human rights and the East Asia geopolitical sector, understanding how different countries interact, in addition to how political systems determine conditions of freedom and repression.

Beyond the classroom, Michelle has engaged in research with international policy and media, and takes on many leadership positions, including being a part of the Army ROTC program at the university
