Kaylee Kim

Research Intern
  • Summer 2023 - Summer 2023

Kaylee Kim is a senior at Harvard College concentrating in Government and East Asian Studies, with a focus on North Korea and China. She is passionate about human rights, international relations and law, national security, and political strategy. At Harvard, she has taken classes on international relations, East Asian politics, and inter-Korean issues and has conducted research in Korean, English, and Chinese. Her experiences in government and law have sparked her interest in researching domestic and international policy tools to confront egregious human rights abuses.

Her main research interests include the human trafficking of female North Korean refugees, the forced repatriation of North Korean refugees by China, and addressing North Korean and Chinese human rights violations regarding North Korean refugees through an international law framework. She is also interested in national security issues regarding the U.S. and North Korea, legal strategies to address human rights in North Korea, and China-North Korea border issues. Through this internship, she hopes to deepen her understanding of North Korean human rights issues and contribute to HRNK’s mission of bringing such issues to the forefront of U.S. foreign policy.
