Juhee Kim is an undergraduate student at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Seoul, South Korea) majoring in Political Science and Economics. Her interest in international relations has developed over several life-shaping experiences. Her experience in international relations was inspired after she wrote a paper based on an interview with North Korean refugees from Hangyeore High School, which was established to help North Korean escapee youths. This experience led her to become more interested and become an advocate to increase awareness of the plight of North Korean refugees. While helping to organize and host a convention about “Seeking a New International Order in the Rise of Protectionism Flow,” she conducted extensive research on the topic and also recruited participants. Last spring, she was selected as a trainee with the Sejong Institute, where she won an excellence award. She hopes to deepen her understanding of North Korean human rights issues while interning at HRNK.
