John Park

Research Intern
  • Summer 2017 - Summer 2017

John Park studies Politics, Philosophy, and Cognitive Science at Pomona College. He has been pursuing his interests in North Korean human rights since high school, when he founded a non-profit organization (Bluebird NK) for the education of North Korean defector youth and advocacy for human rights. He is currently forming an educational center for defectors at his school to help more defectors pursue their college education, as well as co-producing a documentary film on the diverse voices of North Korean defectors in the US and South Korea. The film will include topics concerning life in North Korea, their new homes in South Korea, and views on reunification. In addition to contributing to research at HRNK, he hopes to learn more about North Korea and how an established human rights organization works. After college, he plans to attend law school to prepare himself for a career in working for North Korean human rights and the reunification of the Korean peninsula.
