Jio Lew

Research Intern

Jio Lew is an incoming ninth-grade student at Taejeon Christian International School (TCIS) in Daejeon, South Korea. He is of Korean and Japanese heritage.

His interest in international relations began when his father, a specialist in alliance politics and East Asian security affairs, introduced him to the blue ribbon badge that symbolizes the plight of Japanese citizens abducted by North Korea.

Since then, Jio has sought to deepen his understanding of North Korean human rights issues and broader security challenges on the Korean Peninsula.

Through this internship, he hopes to further expand his knowledge of human rights in North Korea while helping raise international awareness of both the human rights situation and the unresolved abduction issues.
