Jihyang Diana Kim pursues B.A. degree in law at Sookmyung Women's University and she is currently a participant of Korea WEST program. Her interest in North Korea began in elementary school when she worked as a volunteer collecting food donations to help North Koreans at the Peace Foundation. Then her interest deepened when she volunteered to teach Korean to a little girl who was born in China but whose mother came from North Korea. These experiences made her feel the importance of helping the North Korean defectors and accept the responsibility of taking an active part in helping to change this poor human rights situation. During her internship, she hopes to gain insight into human rights and the complicated political issues surrounding Korean peninsula.
