Grace Soo Min Kan studies Government and Economics with a focus in international relations at Georgetown University. She has a keen interest in Korean history, ranging from the repercussions of Japanese imperialism to the division of the Korean peninsula. She has participated in Wednesday Demonstrations in South Korea for the rights of Korean Comfort Women and has written research papers regarding the issue of separated families from North and South Korea. She is particularly drawn to the recent developments in American foreign policy in East Asia and the topic of maintaining international security within an era of nuclear proliferation. She is grateful for the opportunity to work with HRNK, and hopes to hone her knowledge about North Korea and strengthen her efforts in promoting human rights. She looks to contribute her experience at HRNK towards the field of international law pertaining to the issue of refugees as well as further her interest in security studies.
