Eric Ryu is a Master of Human Rights student at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota, where he is pursuing a concentration in Migration and Human Rights. Previously, he earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Government and Sociology at the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. at the University of Minnesota Law School. He previously practiced as an immigration attorney in Minnesota and California, representing detained and non-detained asylum seekers and refugees before the immigration courts. During law school, he researched and wrote several papers about human rights abuses in North Korea and North Korean refugees. Through HRNK, he hopes to research and gain a deeper understanding of overall human rights issues in North Korea, issues regarding North Korean refugees and their human rights, and North-South relations.

Internship Application

Successful applicants will undergo a formal interview process before being offered an internship. Applications will be processed on a rolling basis. We strongly recommend that applicants apply at least 3 months prior to their anticipated start date. Internships are typically unpaid, but academic credit is honored. A minimum commitment of 20 working hours per week is preferred. Please upload your documents in the .doc format.
