Dawson Fletcher

Research Intern

Dawson Fletcher is a junior at the University of Maine majoring in Economics with a minor in International Affairs. On campus, he participates in a variety of activities, including serving as a DJ for his university’s radio station and playing intramural flag football and basketball.

During the fall semester of 2025, Dawson studied abroad at Pusan National University in Busan, South Korea, in the Global Studies program. While in Busan, he met students from around the world, an experience that exposed him to new perspectives and further deepened his interest in global affairs and international studies. His time in South Korea also gave him a greater appreciation for Korean culture and society, which ultimately strengthened his interest in raising awareness about the human rights violations committed by North Korea.

Through his internship with the Committee for Human Rights in North Korea, Dawson hopes to gain hands-on experience researching and advocating for North Korean human rights. In the future, he hopes to return to South Korea to continue his studies in Global Studies and potentially pursue a master’s degree.
