Dawson Fletcher is a senior at the University of Maine currently majoring in Economics with a minor in International Affairs. On campus, he has participated in various activities, including serving as a DJ for the university’s radio station as well as playing intramural flag football and basketball.
During the fall semester of 2025, Dawson studied abroad at Pusan National University in Busan, South Korea, in the Global Studies program. While in Busan, he met students from around the world, an experience that exposed him to new perspectives and further deepened his interest in global affairs and international studies. His time in South Korea gave him a deeper appreciation for Korean history, culture, and society, ultimately strengthening his interest in raising awareness about the human rights violations committed in North Korea.
Through his internship with the Committee for Human Rights in North Korea, Dawson hopes to gain hands-on experience researching and advocating for North Korean human rights. In the future, he hopes to return to South Korea to continue learning and potentially pursue a master’s degree in Global Studies.
