Chris Buchman is a graduate of the University of Washington, Seattle, where he received both an MA in International Studies from the Jackson School of International Studies and a Graduate Certificate in International Development from the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance. Chris became interested in both the inter-Korean conflict and North Korean human rights issues while living in South Korea, where he lived, worked, and became fluent in Korean over the course of five years. Most recently, Chris worked in Southeast Asia as a field coordinator with the international NGO, Liberty in North Korea (LiNK), where he had the privilege of interviewing and assisting dozens of North Korean refugees seeking asylum. Through his internship at HRNK, Chris seeks to put his knowledge and past experience to work in Washington, D.C. and become an integral part of HRNK's human rights policy research and publications activities.
