Arim Lee is an undergraduate student at Columbia University studying English and Applied Mathematics with an interest in human rights law, especially women’s and children’s rights. Motivated by her years growing up in Korea, she worked with The Korean Council for Justice and Remembrance throughout high school advocating for justice for “comfort women,” which she translated into fighting for the credibility of domestic violence survivors at The Northeast Justice Center.
At HRNK, she hopes to become familiar with conducting and reviewing empirical research on human rights, as well as the trauma, power dynamics, and legal systems that play into them. She is interested in the nuanced ways women’s and children’s rights are systematically violated under North Korea’s totalitarian dictatorship, specifically through media and digital technology.
