Alex Kim, hearty congratulations on this fully deserved promotion!

Alexander Youngyoon Kim is the Director of Operations at the U.S. Committee for Human Rights in North Korea (HRNK). He earned his Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University, with a concentration in International Economics and a minor in Economics.

As a dual citizen of the Republic of Korea and the United States, Alexander developed a strong interest in the U.S.-ROK alliance. From 2020 to 2022, he completed 18 months of mandatory military service in South Korea, serving as a drill instructor. This experience deepened his appreciation for the importance of a strong national defense in safeguarding democracy and protecting the nation. It also reinforced his commitment to addressing the human rights challenges posed by the North Korean regime.

Alexander has supported key diplomatic engagements, including assisting the government of the Republic of Korea during the state visit to Washington, D.C., in April 2023, and the U.S.-ROK-Japan Trilateral Summit at Camp David in August 2023.

Before joining HRNK, Alexander served as a Monitoring Agent at the Korean Cultural Center in Washington, D.C., where he tracked coverage from fifteen U.S. newspapers focused on Korea and East Asia and produced daily media reports for the South Korean government.
