Makayla Kegerreis is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan with a BA in Spanish and International Studies with a focus on International Security, Norms, and Cooperation. After working temporarily, she hopes to continue her education by obtaining a master’s in public policy or international security to research how technology can be used to promote peace and aid in post-conflict reconstruction.
During her time at the University of Michigan, she studied abroad in Granada, Spain and interned in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina with the Post Conflict Research Center to learn about peacebuilding and human rights in a post-conflict setting. She became interested in North Korean human rights after coming across videos discussing North Korea’s sociopolitical situation and learning about HRNK’s work from a professor. During her internship, she hopes to learn more about labor exploitation and public policy in North Korea.
